The proposal for the SKWAT/ARTEK competition called for adding new value to the five types of furniture that have been used in various exhibitions and displays at ARTEK and transforming them into new forms.
I wanted to maintain the round and soft shape without corners that is typical of artek, and extend the features of stool60 (it can be used not only as a seat but also as a side table, and can be stacked together), and add simple operations to create furniture that can be used in a variety of ways.
Specifically, I would like to make a module for the height of each piece when stacked, change the length of the legs of the stool60, and create a new S size that is just the right height for a small child to sit on, and a new L size that is about the height of a desk.
The three sizes S, M, and L can be combined and stacked in a variety of ways: M and L can be used as a small desk and chair set for remote work or simple tasks; S and M can be used as a desk and chair set for children. When not in use, they can be stacked for compact storage. They can be stacked for compact storage when not in use. They can also be used as shelves by combining different heights without stacking them closely.
With three sizes, we believe that stool60 will become a “new form” that will induce more freedom and diversity of usage.

SKWAT/ARTEK主催コンペティション応募案。ARTEKのさまざまな展覧会やディスプレイに使われてきた５種類の家具たちに、新しい価値を付加し新たなカタチに転換することが求められた。
artekらしい角のない丸く柔らかな形状を維持すると共に、stool60の特徴(座るという用途だけでなくサイドテーブルなど様々な使い方ができ、重ねまとめられる)を延長し、シンプルな操作を加えることでより多様な使い方のできる家具を考えたい。
具体的には、上手く重なるようスタッキングした際の一段あたりの高さをモジュールにし、stool60の脚の長さをかえ、小さな子供が座るのにちょうどよい高さのSサイズ、机程度の高さのLサイズを新たにつくる。
S,M,Lの３サイズの組合せ・重ね方により、使い方の可能性が拡がる。MとLで、リモートワークや簡単な作業をする際の小さな机とイスのセットに、SとMで、子供用の机とイスのセットに、スタッキングという特徴はそのまま活かし、使用しないときは重ねてコンパクトに収納しておくことも可能。また、密に重ねず高さの違うものを組み合わせることで、棚のようにもなる。
３サイズとすることで、stool60がより自由で多様な使い方を誘発する「新たなカタチ」になると考えた。
